Abyssbound Goes Live on Steam With a “Coming Soon” Page

The veil has finally lifted. Abyssbound, the upcoming dark fantasy action-adventure roguelite, has officially launched its Steam page—complete with a Coming Soon release window. With the reveal, excitement is quickly building, and many players are already speculating that the game may make its public debut during an upcoming Steam Next Fest event.

A Descent Into a Reawakening Evil

Abyssbound takes players deep beneath the world into ever-changing underground realms corrupted by the long-dormant Abyss. Once sealed centuries ago during the legendary Last Seal War, the Abyss is now cracking open, leaking rotten energy that twists creatures, warps reality, and pulls the dead back into motion.

Players step into the role of an elite assassin from the secretive Assassin of the Veil guild—individuals capable of forming a rare mental bond with fallen Veil Guardian spirits. Only those who carry such a spirit can descend into the Abyss without losing their sanity.

A Roguelite Where Every Run Tells a Story

Every descent in Abyssbound is a self-contained run featuring:

  • Randomized room sequences
  • Shifting enemy compositions
  • Dynamic puzzles and layouts
  • Mini-boss and boss encounters
  • Collapse phases after destroying Abyss Cores
  • Permanent upgrades earned through death or escape

Failure isn’t an ending—it’s progression.

Choose Your Spirit. Shape Your Fate.

Before each run, players choose one of several unique spirit personalities, each offering different passive buffs, personalities, and moral tendencies:

  • The Warrior – stamina, resilience, survival
  • The Trickster – speed, crit chance, chaotic humor
  • The Seer – perception, loot sense, insight
  • The Executioner – brutal close-quarters ferocity

Your spirit reacts dynamically to your performance—encouraging you when you excel or mocking you when you fail. Their emotional state directly affects your buffs and debuffs, creating a psychological element rarely seen in the genre.

Fast, Skill-Based Combat

Abyssbound emphasizes style, precision, and mobility:

  • Swift sword combat
  • Stylish slow-motion crossbow headshots
  • Silent backstab executions
  • Throwing knives
  • Dodge-and-strike movement-focused encounters

Enemy factions—from undead legions to mutants and Abyss-warped constructs—require different tactics and weapon mastery.

Solo or Co-op for Up to 4 Players

Abyssbound supports both solo play and 1–4 player online co-op, delivering:

  • Shared revives
  • Shared loot
  • Co-op puzzles
  • Spirit personalities that interact through the players
  • Team builds shaped by spirit combinations

Co-op chaos is very much part of the fun, especially when your spirits start “arguing” through your party.

The Community Already Has Its Eyes on Next Fest

With the Steam page now live and the release window labeled “Coming Soon,” players have begun speculating about a potential Next Fest demo. The timing aligns closely with typical festival schedules, leading many to believe that Abyssbound may soon offer its first playable slice to the public.

Although the developers have not made an official announcement yet, expectations are high.
