Hades 2 Update Expands the True Ending and Adds Major New Features

Supergiant Games has released the first major post-launch patch for Hades 2, expanding the game’s conclusion and adding a host of improvements to gameplay, visuals, and performance. The update aims to address player feedback following the full release of Hades 2 last month, especially criticism surrounding the original ending of Melinoë’s journey.

In this new patch, the developers have introduced several new events, voiceovers, and visual sequences that build up to a revised True Ending. Players will now need to complete more Underworld clears to unlock this expanded finale. According to Supergiant, the vast majority of these changes affect the Underworld route, while the Surface route and the Epilogue remain mostly unchanged.

A new Cauldron incantation has also been added, allowing players to return to an earlier point in the story and re-experience key moments, including the True Ending. Meanwhile, Fated Prophecies tied to certain characters and the story epilogue will now progress faster, helping players experience these moments more naturally.

The update also brings economic changes to the Crossroads hub, with many decorative items now costing fewer Kudos and refunds issued for previous purchases. Combat and balance tweaks touch nearly every aspect of the game, including increased damage and effectiveness for various Boons, Blessings, and Daedalus Hammer upgrades. Several Keepsakes and Well of Charon items have also been adjusted for better usability.

Players will notice numerous quality-of-life changes, including improved animations, visual effects, and environmental polish across multiple locations. Some boss encounters, such as Headmistress Hecate and the Phantom in the Fields, have had their hitboxes and attack effects refined to better match visuals. Voice and narrative content have also expanded, adding new dialogues and scenes involving key characters like Chronos, Hades, Zagreus, and Hecate-both before and after the True Ending.

On the technical side, the patch introduces a new option to disable flashing at critical Life levels, an adjustable FPS limit when VSync is off, and improved compatibility with macOS Tahoe. Translation fixes and updated inventory hints were also included, ensuring smoother accessibility across all supported languages.

While the game’s first ending was divisive, Hades 2 continues to receive praise for its artistry and depth. GameSpot gave the title a perfect 10/10 score, and the game recently hit over 112,000 concurrent players on Steam. Supergiant Games thanked the community for their feedback, noting that this patch was built directly in response to player experiences and suggestions.

With the expanded True Ending and a wide range of refinements, this update solidifies Hades 2 as one of the most polished and ambitious roguelikes of 2025-proving that Melinoë’s journey through the underworld is far from over.
